The Have Your Cake and Eat It Diet » The Diet
The Diet
Before we start, there’s one thing that you should know.
THIS IS NOT A FAD DIET.
If you want to lose 10lbs in 10 days, just to pile it back on 10 days later, then Have Your Cake and Eat It isn’t the diet for you. If you want me to tell you to eat some nasty, bland ‘food’ concoction day after day, whilst your energy levels, work productivity and personal life suffer, you’d better shut down this blog and run.
However, if you wish to attain the body beautiful, whilst eating delicious food and maintaining a healthy balance within the rest of your life, then welcome, Dear Reader…
…
This isn’t just a diet blog. No. This is me. As we go on, I predict you’ll find excerpts from my book, general diet and fitness ramblings, my own personal musings and experiences, with a spot of food porn thrown in for good measure. In all likelihood, I’ll log some workouts, share some recipes- and who knows- there could even be videos. I anticipate a Charli-flavoured cocktail of the informative, the introspective and the plain random, though in what quantities and what order, I’m not yet sure.
Let’s see how this unfolds…

Train With Charli
I always found balance to the best way to go about things – although I overdo it at times. Sure, I would love to have a flat stomach with my abs showing clear crystal…unfortunately, there a re few foods I just cannot give up and often eat them on weekends. I actually was able to lose 10% of fat in 8 months following such eating LIFESTYLE…although may not be the best or the most beneficial, it has worked for me..and I can see myself living in such way for long periof of time, instead of jumping from diet to diet to diet….
Hey Amna, thanks for dropping by! It sounds like you’re taking an absolutely perfect approach to dieting- I’d say it’s very much the best and most beneficial. And 10% body fat in 8 months is a fantastic achievement- you should be really proud of yourself
So true!!!! I posted on a recent fad diet I heard about…makes me sad!

Urgh, yes… I heard about the HCG. People will never just accept that diet and exercise is the only thing that’ll ever work. It gets painful to watch… Nice article by the way!
I am very close to m’y target weight with 24% bf, 31% lean mass accordoir to my scale. Total body Ségur 124lbs 5’4″ @ 50 yrs old. I would like to be below 20% by June. I exercise with daily regular cardi and weight training. I eat healthy Avg 1400-1800 cal/day. What can I do to tweak my progress.
Thanks
Monique
I look forward to learning more.
But I really believe it is about a healthy diet and SWEAT. It isn’t easy and the weight didn’t come on overnight. You have to work at it and deal with the reasons why you choose to overeat in the first place.
I can’t believe the HCG diet is still promoted. It was thought to be dubious in the late 70s and that the weight loss came from the 500 calories — which is not sustainable over the long term. Adiet that did more harm than good.
I believe that you should be able to eat what you want, when you want, and exercise when you want and when you can. Enjoy life, but be mindful of those things you eat, and be mindful of your health. Life is too short to not enjoy the things you desire! Charli, I’d love to share thoughts!
I think it’s very much dependant on how you prioritise desires. For example, if someone wants to compete in a figure competition, eating what they want when they want isn’t an option. If someone just wants to be healthy, then taking a more relaxed approach but still making smart choices is a good way to go about it. That said lot of people don’t have the nutrition/fitness knowledge to understand how to ‘eat what they want’ and ‘exercise when they want’ without seriously damaging their health, so they need more specific guidelines to get started. It’s impossible to generalise.
Very good advice Charli. I’m a marathon runner and even me, I have to watch what I eat. I think of the body like a bank account you get what you put in, so if you put in good food your body will perform great for you. I’m a certified personal trainer and just looking at what is going on with people overeating and getting obesity is really sad not to mention all the health problems. People these days don’t have the fitness/nutrition.
I know for me, I’ve struggled with dieting for years. I’ve recently learned that it’s about making lifestyle adjustments. It’s not about, overdoing it one day so much that you never want to work out again. It’s about finding a healthy balance. I’ve spent too much time not eating, or eating too much and compensating for it in the past… No way am I doing that again.
I’m excited to see where this blog goes!
You have exactly the right attitude! It’s all about taking a sustainable, realistic, ‘lifestyle’ approach.
Somehow you asked to follow me on twitter, I said, hell yeah & now I’m reading your site.
I recently lost 20 lbs, reached my goal weight, total BMI of 20.33% & have been tweaking my diet ever since, until about a month ago I fell into a lean protein, low fat, low carb, low calorie way of eating & I love it.
I’m able to maintain my goal weight, never be hungry & love the variety.
I am loving the recipes on your site, especially the chocolate ones!
I must have a tiny bit in the evening & needed some new ways to have it.
I power walk with weights every day, play golf, swim.
I’m also into athletic fashion as I am the buyer of the golf apparel for our pro shop.
You’ve combined alot of my favorite things in one site & I’m happy to become a fan on twitter!
